Penetrating head injury caused by a screwdriver

Background: Penetrating head injuries (PHI) caused by sharp objects are associated with a high risk of potentially life-threatening complications and estimated to account for approximately 0.4% all injuries. Since not many cases PHI screwdriver have been described in the literature, treatment these patients is quite controversial non-standardized. Therefore, aim this paper was present our experience treating patient screwdriver. Case description: The authors three-year-old female who accidentally sustained through right orbit. A computed tomography scan performed, which demonstrated presence metal end anterior cranial fossa. underwent emergency surgery foreign body evacuated repair dura brain injury. intervention followed complete postoperative recovery without any gross neurological deficits. Follow-up examinations were performed up three years after injury, while patient's condition remained unchanged. Our case supports immediate neurosurgical removal object from endocranium.
